8 Key Questions for Teachers

When building in support for the Portrait of a Graduate ask yourself these questions.

  • Do I set high expectations & build in relevance?

  • Do I develop genuine & real rapport with students? It's the starting place for all meaningful learning.

  • Do I see the connection between engaging teaching & learning & the Portrait of a New Kent Graduate (PoG)?

  • Am I designing lessons that incorporate the attributes of the PoG?  If not, choose a lesson that you want to re-design, based on the PoG.

  • Did you know that one of the goals teachers create & are evaluated by is a Portrait of a Graduate Goal?  Choose a PoG element to center your goal development for this year.

  • Have you considered project-based learning for a lesson re-design?  PBL naturally embeds the PoG elements. (https://www.pblworks.org/)

  • Does my classroom physical set-up support communication & collaboration? (when students return to the classroom)

  • How can my students demonstrate their learning & create evidence for a portfolio? Is that demonstration with an authentic audience...outside of the classroom?

---DID YOU KNOW?...That students have an under-utilized Google Site Portfolio?  Identify key artifacts from class.  Have students create a tab for your class & upload to their Google Site.
